I'm running to contribute to the struggle against homogeneity in collective perception and conditioned regurgitation of sound bites OR I would simply like to help out! I rely on independent media to recognize the diversity of perspectives and issues, so I hope to assist with this much-needed effort.

As an individual and attorney, I have always had a soft spot for the freedom of expression. The impact and influence of these rights are immeasurable. This is why I have been a member of the Visual Artists Guild, which has championed such rights protected by the First Amendment.

My profession requires constant assessment and sound judgment to render a multitude of decisions. The daily needs to thoroughly comprehend facts and develop strategies to reach various objectives are skill sets that can easily be applied to serve the operations and decision-making at Pacifica Radio. My experience has allowed me to foster additional skills, such as maintaining great relationships through compromise and need for negotiations.

In addition, I've been an activist for many years. I have participated in protests and actions involving the anti-war demonstrations, LGBT rights, fight against Proposition 8, Occupy movement, Black Lives Matter, occupation of Palestine, violation of human rights in China, persecution of whistleblowers in the U.S., and many other causes. Most recently and in an ongoing manner, I have volunteered and worked hard for the Bernie campaign.

I have been involved in organizing, planning, outreach, and various facets of political actions. Therefore, I am aware of the many struggles we face and appreciate the role media plays in fostering critical thinking and building knowledge that is crucial to the success or failure of a movement and beyond--to the everyday strengthening of our society and democracy.

Ultimately, aside from tackling and resolving financial and legal obstacles, I would love the opportunity to work toward broadening KPFK's audience to those who rely heavily on mainstream media via online access, social media, increased participation and presence at public events, and other creative channels. It is not enough to preach to the choir; independent media must reach out to the public, which includes more than just activists and those deemed progressives or liberals. If we believe that our programming, news and information are indispensable, it is indispensable for ALL people.

Therefore, it would be a great honor to be of service to the operations of Pacifica Radio
